Message from the Head of School
Over the past fifteen years, I have experienced Rio Grande School as a teacher, a parent, and as the Head of School. With each of these unique perspectives, I have come to recognize and appreciate the wonderful education that this school has to offer and the care with which the faculty and staff attend to the students’ unique emotional and creative needs. I welcome and encourage potential families to tour our beautiful campus so that they can experience first hand how we are challenging each child’s intellect, inspiring each child’s imagination, and nurturing each child’s desire to learn.
At RGS, we believe that knowledge is built through both the process of inquiry and the practicality of experience. In preparing children for a world that is rapidly evolving, we believe it is more important than ever to provide foundational experiences that develop students into innovative, communicative, and ethical leaders capable of adapting to the world around them.
Our exceptional faculty holds itself to the highest set of educational and ethical standards to lead our community of learners. These standards are met through the curriculum they create and designed to provide a nurturing environment in which students can build the skills they need to meet the demands of our ever-changing global landscape.
Located at the base of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains on five acres of high desert, surrounded by arroyos and hiking trails, our school’s campus is perfectly situated for students to engage with both the natural wonders of the outdoors and the academic rigors of the classroom.

En estos 15 años he tenido la oportunidad de ser un profesor, padre, y director de RGS y ésto me ha dado diferentes perspectivas. Reconozco el gran valor educativo que ofrece esta escuela y la dedicación y cuidado de los profesores y el personal al atender las necesidades emocionales y creativas de los estudiantes. Invito a familias interesadas a visitar nuestra escuela y hermoso campus así pueden observar como desafiamos el intelecto de cada estudiante, inspiramos cada imaginación, y alimentamos cada deseo de aprender.
Nuestra excepcional facultad se adhiere al más alto conjunto de estándares educativos y éticos para liderar nuestra comunidad de estudiantes. Estos estándares están relacionados con el plan de estudios creados para proporcionar un entorno enriquecedor en el que los estudiantes pueden desarrollar las habilidades. Deben satisfacer las demandas de nuestro panorama global que cambia constantemente.
RGS está ubicada en la base de las montañas Sangre de Cristo, en 5 acres de desiertos altos rodeados de arroyos y rutas de senderismo. El campus de nuestra escuela está perfectamente situado para que los estudiantes se involucren tanto con las maravillas naturales del aire libre como con los rigores académicos.
